Puppies

Current Puppies

We have no puppies at present. Enquiries are still welcome through the link above. We are also happy to recommend other reputable breeders - just send us an email.

Please also consider adopting a Labrador from one of the following rescue sites: Rescue A Labrador, Luv-a-Lab Rescue, Pet Rescue, Canberra Pooch Rescue, CARA Inc, or the RSPCA Adopt-a-Pet.

About Our Puppies

At Duskwood Kennels, we hip and elbow score all breeding stock prior to breeding to minimise the risk of inherited joint problems. PLEASE NOTE that it is a REQUIREMENT in Australia that both parents are hip and elbowed scored in order for puppies to be registered as purebreds. Any reputable breeder should be more than happy to show you relevant hip and elbow certificates.

We also choose to DNA test our breeding dogs for Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA/PRCD) and Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC).

We raise our puppies with the Biosensor/SuperDog program, designed by the United States military to raise dogs with superior ability to handle stressors in their day-to-day environment. For more information on the program, see this article.

What To Expect

When we send a puppy to its 'forever home', the puppy will be:
* microchipped;
* wormed;
* vaccinated (although you will need to complete further rounds of vaccinations); and
* registered with the Australian National Kennel Council through the ACT Canine Association as a purebred Labrador Retriever (you are still required to register the dog with your local council).

We also provide:
* a scrap of the blanket that the litter has used so the puppy has a familiar and comforting smell;
* food for the first two days;
* information on the care of your new puppy;
* free health insurance for the first six weeks of your ownership, covering vet fees and insurance against loss, death and injury;
* copies of all relevant health and pedigree certificates of both parents; and
* a cd of photos of the litter.
